Fusio — autumn ambiance in Val Lavizzara

FULLY BOOKED (waiting list)! Five days of hotel-based autumn hiking around the picturesque mountain village of Fusio with discovery of the varied landscapes, history and cultural heritage of Val Lavizzara.

Highlights

The tranquil, shimmering Lago di Mognòla, surrounded by golden larches; the little village of Brontallo, perched on a rocky terrace, with its surrounding “alpi” and traditional stone buildings; splendid panoramic views from Passo Campolungo towards snow-capped peaks, Lake Sambuco and the valleys of Leventina and Lavizzara; Mario Botta’s controversial black-and-white church in Mogno; and a stay in the charming and welcoming Villa Pineta (Swiss Historic Hotel).

Type of hiking

• 5 days of guided hikes (Monday to Friday), with discovery of the local flora and fauna, geology, history and culture.
• Hikes at level 3*, for sure-footed hikers on good form; about 600-1100 m up and down and 4.5–6 hours of walking each day (shorter hike on final day)
• Technical level: T2 with some exposed paths and possibly short sections at T3 (Swiss Alpine Club grading). You should be at ease on steep, narrow stony trails.

Meet in Fusio at 18.00 on the evening of Sunday 13 October.

Price and booking

Price per person: CHF 1220–1280 depending on room choice (min. 6, max. 9 participants), including: 5 days’ guided hikes; 5 nights’ accommodation in twin or, when available, single rooms with half-board; Ticino Ticket giving free use of most Ticino public transport.

Price excludes: transport (except as mentioned), insurances, picnic lunches, drinks.
