Diemtigtal Nature Park
A four-day long weekend of hiking in and around Diemtigtal Nature Park, including two sections of the scenic Berner Voralpenweg from Oey to Zweisimmen.
Highlights
- The blue-green Seeberg lake and Spillgerten nature reserve.
- The valley’s traditional farmhouses with their richly decorated wooden façades.
- The Rauflihorn and Wiriehorn summits with wide views of characteristic pre-alpine landscapes.
- A rich biodiversity with abundant early summer flora.
Type of hiking
- 4 days of guided hikes, with discovery of the local flora and fauna, geology, history and culture.
- Hikes at level 3*/4*, for experienced, sure-footed hikers on good form; 700–1200 m ↑, 130–1300 m↓ and 5–7.5 hours walking each day (excluding breaks) plus need to carry rucksack with clothes, picnics and overnight kit for the first and last days.
- Technical level: mostly T2 (Swiss Alpine Club grading) with some short sections at T3.
- Overnight stays in twin rooms at Kurhaus Grimmialp.

High above Zermatt
Four days of hiking high above Zermatt, surrounded by 4000-m peaks and glaciers. Not only home to the legendary Matterhorn, Zermatt also boasts a diverse flora and fauna, larch and stone-pine forest, over 150 lakes, a fascinating geological history, and a rich local culture.
Highlights
Steep-sided Trift gorge with botanical path and an astounding variety of wild flowers; Höhbalmen high-level panoramic trail opposite the Matterhorn; the three-lake tour, including the beautiful calm Schwarzsee with its little chapel; and a high-level climb to the 3414 m summit of the Oberrothorn, with 360° views of the 4000-ers.
Type of hiking
- 4 days of guided hikes, with discovery of the local flora and fauna, geology, history and culture.
- Hikes at level 3*, for enthusiastic hikers on good form; up to 1000 m ↑ and ↓ and 3–6.5 hours of walking each day (excluding breaks), plus need to carry rucksack with clothes, picnics and overnight kit for the 4 days.
- Technical level: mostly T2 (Swiss Alpine Club grading) with possibly a few sections at T3.
- Overnight stays with half-board in dormitory accommodation.
Itinerary
- Day 1: Zermatt 1616 m– Trift 2337 m; c. 720 m ↑ , 2.5 h (possible alternative, depending on group’s capacity and wishes: Zermatt – Chüeberg – Wisshorn 2936 m – Trift, c. 1300 m ↑, 600 m ↓, 6.5 h) .
- Day 2: Trift 2337 m – Höhbalmen 2665 m – Schwarzläger – Stafelalp – Schwarzsee 2583 m; c. 850 m ↑, 650 m ↓, 6 h.
- Day 3: Schwarzsee 2583 m – Furi 1867 m – Grünsee 2300 m ‒ Stellisee – Fluhalp 2618 m; c. 900 m ↑ and ↓, 6.5 h.
- Day 4: Fluhalp 2618 m – Furggji – Oberrothorn 3414 m – Unterrothorn 3104 m, then descent by cablecar; c. 940 m ↑, 450 m ↓, 4.5 h (or optional extra: descent to Sunnegga or Zermatt via Ritzengrat).
Itinerary may be modified to take account of local weather conditions or for the security of the group.

Spring in the Lavaux*/**
A scenic walk through the Lavaux UNESCO World Heritage site: terraced vineyards, picturesque villages and long views of Lac Léman. About 450 m of up and down and c. 4 h of walking.
Cost: CHF 65 per person (excluding transport).
Jaunbach gorge and Gruyères*/**
From Charmey we walk down to the Lac de Montsalvens, crossing a suspension bridge and following the lakeside path before entering the spectacular Jaunbach gorge with its rock galleries, wooden walkways and waterfalls. We continue via Broc to the medieval village of Gruyères with its famous castle.
About 350 m of up, 500m of down and 4 hours of walking.

Do you know how to plan your day of hiking, ensure you have the right equipment, read a map, and use a compass and altimeter for orientation? Whether you’re a beginner or would simply like to refresh your knowledge, this mini-training is for you!
We will spend the evening of Tuesday 7 May together reviewing the basics (map-reading, compass/altimeter use, planning a hike) before putting everything into practice during a day hike in the Jura on Sunday 19 May.

Naters–Blindbärgji**
A spring hike taking us over rocky terraces high above Naters and through the “witches’ forest” up to a viewpoint at 1449 m, with a magnificent panorama of the Simplon region peaks.
About 800 m of up, 600 m of down and 4.5 hours of hiking.
Cost: CHF 65 per person (excluding transport).
Spring in Ticino: Mendrisiotto plus!
Spring hiking in the southernmost part of Switzerland. Five days from a comfortable hotel base close to the shores of Lake Lugano.
Highlights: the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Monte San Giorgio with its fascinating geology; the classic hike over Monte San Salvatore and down to the idyllic lakeside village of Morcote; the forests, terraced pastures and picturesque villages of the Valle di Muggio (voted landscape of the year in 2014); and the panoramic views from Monte Generoso with its majestic “Fiore di pietra” created by the famous architect Mario Botta.
Type of hiking
- 5 days of guided hikes (Sunday to Thursday), with discovery of the local flora and fauna, geology, history and culture.
- Hikes at level 2*/3*, for sure-footed enthusiastic hikers on reasonably good form. About 600-900 m up and down and 4–5.5 hours of walking each day (shorter hike on final day)
- Technical level: T2 with a few exposed sections at T3 (Swiss Alpine Club grading). Please be prepared for some steep, narrow stony paths and, for one hike, a lot of steps!
Meet in Capolago on the evening of Saturday 11 May.
Price and booking
Price per person: CHF 965 (min. 6, max. 10 participants), including: 5 days’ guided hikes; 5 nights’ accommodation in twin rooms (2* hotel) with half-board; Ticino Ticket giving free use of most Ticino public transport and reductions on mountain lifts and certain other sport and leisure activities.
Please allow about 35 francs (with ½-price or general abonnement) for the use of mountain lifts and boat.
